The Hoopa Lodge Dunsmuir, CA
Nestled in the storied railroad town of Dunsmuir, CA, this 100-year-old cabin began as a single-room structure built by a Native American craftsman and was slowly added to over time. When I discovered it, the space was worn and neglected, yet full of history and potential.
The remodel brought new life to the kitchen, bathroom, and floors, while the design vision centered on honoring both the spirit of the railroad town and my own Native heritage. Vintage maps, layered textiles, and handpicked artifacts root the space in story, creating a sense of continuity with what came before.
The cabin now feels like a place that has grown naturally through the decades. It tells a story without ever feeling staged, offering warmth, character, and a lived-in authenticity that invites guests to feel at home the moment they step inside.
